The Model 78 round B-style rod utilizes the CM7X replaceable insert. The service life of the insert is dependent upon several application variables, including:
Material composition of the workpiece
Surface finish (rough or smooth)
Operating air pressure applied to the impact marker
Increased air pressure results in higher impact force but correspondingly reduces insert life expectancy.
Under standard operating conditions—1/8" character size, 40 psi air pressure, and a smooth steel marking surface—the CM7X insert provides an estimated service life exceeding 25,000 impressions.
