Q: I am trying to figure out how far away to mount the Model 78 impact marker from the face of the part. The operation guide states, “For optimum power, the marker should be mounted so that the stamp face is .8 to .9 inches away from the part to be marked.” If this is correct, how does the 2” stroke generate 2200 lb mark force compared to the 1” which does 1500 lb, if both markers will hit the part at the same stroke? Is the spec for the 1” stroke model? I have the 2” stroke model.
A: .1" to .2" should be left of the max stroke length.
SO CMT would recommend for Maximum force to mount the model 78 - 1.8" to 1.9" from the part in the retracted position.
